Technology advances are blurring the boundaries between the digital and physical world. Intelligent, interconnected systems now support activities along the entire value chain. The AI is changing how we work, how we produce and will change the way we live. What does this mean? It means reduced costs and improved efficiencies.
It means greater speed and scale. It means smarter products and services. It means evolving from disrupted to disruptor.
 
About the event:
The conference will examine where is Bulgaria in this sea of change, what are Bulgarian companies and industries doing to become part of the new wave. What will this mean for the working force, for the growth and for region development?

Also in May 2010 he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski", speciality Public Administration, Master's degree. He received excellent mark for his Thesis on "Regional policies of the European Union on security and stability. The Black Sea Synergy – the new EU initiative in the Black Sea region". Ivan Totev started his career in 1997 as a graphic designer in a Publishing House. From 2001 to 2004 he worked as Project Manager in a software company. From 2004 to 2007 he was a Technical Director in a hotel complex. In November 2007 he became mayor of District "East" at Plovdiv Municipality. From August 2009 to October 2011 he was the Governor of Plovdiv Region. In October 2011 he was elected Mayor of Plovdiv as a candidate from PP GERB. Four years later he was re-elected for a second mandate.

    Currently a second-term Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv (since 2011). Stefan Stoyanov is responsible for education, business development, European policies and international cooperation.
    One of the focuses during his mandates is the establishment and the operations of Business Development Department at the Plovdiv Municipality. The Department is the first regional structure to attract investments and develop different economic sectors. Spheres of priority for Plovdiv are mechanical engineering, automotive manufacturing, information technologies and export of business processes. For the period of 5 years, the Business Development Department participates directly in the opening of more than 5000 new jobs and in the attraction of numerous investments in Plovdiv and the region. Together with his team, Stefan Stoyanov has prepared a complete conception for the popularization of the city and Trakia Economic Zone as an attractive investment destination, appropriate for strategic investors.
    During his work, Stefan Stoyanov actively participates in a number of innovative educational reforms and the establishment of Educational-industrial board that aims to involve business into vocational schools and the introduction of the dual educational system.
    At the end of 2016, due to his work on reforms in the field of education, he has been awarded as one of the top 100 innovators from Central and Eastern Europe according to the prestigious ranking of Google, the Visegrad Fund and the Financial Times.

    Gunnar Muent Director of the Innovation and Competitiveness Department EIB

    Gunnar Muent works with the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Luxemburg. He is currently Director of the Bank’s Innovation and Competitiveness Department within EIB’s Projects Directorate that is responsible for the technical and commercial due diligence of investment proposals. The department is focusing on R&D-intensive sectors, including the engineering, automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical and telecoms industries, as well as the education and health sectors. Gunnar holds degrees in industrial engineering and a doctorate from technical universities in Germany. Prior to joining EIB, he worked as researcher at the German Fraunhofer Society and in various positions in the chemical industry.

    Dimitar holds an LL.M. in Business law from George Washington University, Washington, DC. He was a Fulbright and а Thomas Buergenthal grantee for 2009-2010.

    Anna-Marie Vilamovska CEO, Working Ideas, Member of the Board for Digital Entrepreneurship, EC

    From 2003 to 2005 Anna-Marie, A RAND economics Ph.D., designed national pension system in Central and South Asia, the Middle East, and Central Europe for IBRD and IDA in Washington, D.C. and between 2005 and 2010 led applied innovation, health and education policy and financing projects for large corporate, government, international non-profit and multilateral clients at the RAND Corporation in Los Angeles and Brussels.
    From 2012 to 2017 Anna-Marie was the Senior Advisor for Innovation Policy and Healthcare Policy to Bulgaria’s President Rossen Plevneliev. As such she reengineered and led the President’s "John Atanasoff Outstanding Young Digital Scientists and Entrepreneurs Awards", Bulgaria’s largest philanthropic initiative "The Bulgarian Christmas", and chaired the Presidential Council for Science, Education and Economic Development.
    In 2015 the Financial Times, Visegrad Fund, Google and ResPublica listed her as one of the NewEurope100 outstanding individuals leading world-class innovation from CEE. In 2016 Anna-Marie received the Polish Republic’s Commodore’s Crest state insignia for her contribution to creating Innovative Europe, becoming one of its youngest holders.
    In February 2017 Anna-Marie launched her applied economics company Working Ideas. In the first half of 2017 she led the development of Plovdiv’s 2017 – 2022 Education Strategy for Growth, adopted by Plovdiv’s municipal council in July 2017. During the same period, she structured and led the first phase of the 2017 – 2020 IT Talent Hub Bulgaria – a public private partnership of the Bulgarian IT Industry and the Ministry of Education – under which in Sept. 2017 the new industry-designed "applied software developer" highschool degree program is launching in 23 schools nationally. 
    Anna-Marie represents Bulgaria at the EC Member States Board on Digital Entrepreneurship and is one of the national leads in the EC eSkills and Digital Entrepreneurship Campaigns.

    Ahmed A. Busnaina, Ph.D. is the William Lincoln Smith Chair Professor, University Distinguished Professor, and founding Director of National Science Foundation’s Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center (NSEC) for High-rate Nanomanufacturing and the NSF Center for Nano and Microcontamination Control at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. Prior to joining Northeastern University in 2000, he was a professor and a director of the Microcontamination Control Lab at Clarkson University from 1983-2000. Dr. Busnaina is internationally recognized for his work on nano and micro scale defects mitigation and removal in semiconductor fabrication. He specializes in nanoscale printing of 2D and 3D structures for devices and sensors. He developed many techniques for the directed assembly of nanomaterials for the manufacturing of nanoscale structures for energy, electronics, biomedical and materials applications. His research support exceeds $54 million. He authored more than 600 papers in journals, proceedings and conferences. Organized and chaired more than 175 conferences, workshops, sessions and panels for many professional societies. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Nanoparticle Research. He also serves on many advisory boards including Samsung Electronics; Chemical Industry Nanomaterials Roadmap, International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors, Electronic Materials Letters, Journal of Particulate Science and Technology, Journal of Environmental Sciences, Journal of Advanced Applications in Contamination Control. He is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Adhesion Society, a Fulbright Senior Scholar and listed in Who's Who in the World, in America, in science and engineering, etc.). He was awarded the 2006 Nanotech Briefs National Nano50 Award, Innovator category, the 2006 Outstanding Faculty, SØren Buus Outstanding Research Award, Northeastern University 2006, the 2005 Aspiration Award, Northeastern University.
