The event

For the 13th consecutive year Annual Investment Summit will focus on the latest deals on the local market, and also will shed light on what’s happening on a larger, regional scale. The conference provides opportunities to both funds and strategic partners, investors and entrepreneurs to discuss current issues, find solutions and drive the market up. The event also is an excellent platform for networking and deal initiation.

    Rob Irving co-heads Dentons’ Europe and Global Private Equity Groups. 
    His practice focuses on cross-border M&A particularly private equity transactions, throughout CEE and SEE where he has been active since 1991. In the last few years, Rob has led landmark buyout, growth equity and exit transactions, in, among other countries, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic and Turkey.

    Alex is one of the co-founders of ALANTRA’s Austria & CEE platform, and has more than 20 years of investment banking experience across Emerging Europe and Austria. Before joining ALANTRA, a global mid-market focused investment bank, she was Global Co-Head of UniCredit’s Consumer and Retail practice within corporate finance advisory and spearheaded the Capital Structure Advisory practice for CEE corporate clients in diverse industries. Alex has personally advised on more than 30 successfully executed M&A transactions during her career, including several high-profile deals in Bulgaria.

    Dan Farcasanu Country Director Romania, Resource Partners

    Dan Farcasanu is a Country Director for Romania at Resource Partners. He is the Chairman of a portfolio company of Resource Partners, World Class Romania, fitness chain operator and market leader, and Board member of Baltcom, leading cable TV operator in Riga, Latvia. Dan is a Board member in the local Romanian private equity association. He has over 12 years of experience in private equity. Dan also worked for The Carlyle Group and regional funds such as GED and Global Finance. Before private equity Dan worked for PwC, initially in audit and then in corporate finance, and also as an investment banker for CA IB, part of Unicredit Group.  
    He graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and is a member of ACCA.

    Hristo Stoyanov Business Development Manager, CEE, European Investment Fund

    Hristo Stoyanov manages the business development activities of the European Investment Fund in Bulgaria. He joined the EIF office in Sofia as mandate manager in 2011 responsible for the operations of a Bulgarian holding fund providing EU Structural Funds through SME-focused financial instruments including guarantees, start-up accelerators and venture capital. He is member of the Board of Directors of JEREMIE Bulgaria – investment company, acting as an umbrella fund with diversified portfolio of private equity funds and risk-sharing commitments to local credit institutions.
  • Svetoslava Georgieva

    Svetoslava Georgieva Executive Director and Management Board Member, Bulgarian Fund of Funds

    Svetoslava Georgieva has strong international experience in the field of finance as well as in the European institutions. She spent several years working in investment banking and equity investments in London. Following this, she joined the European Commission in Brussels where she gained experience in EU economic governance and key financial sector reforms in the aftermath of the crisis, while working on bank restructuring in Greece, Slovenia and Italy. Svetoslava Georgieva graduated in Economics and finance from University College London with a specialization in Moscow and completed a Master’s degree in the French business school ESCP Europe in Paris.
     
  • Filip Genov

    Filip Genov Vice President and Special Projects Senior Manager at UniCredit Bulbank

    Filip Genov is a Member of the Advisory Board of the FinTech Summit. Mr. Genov is a senior banker with 20+ years of executive experience in Bulgaria and numerous other markets, where he initiated and created a wide array of innovations, new business lines, products and companies in the financial services area. His main areas of expertise are strategy, innovations, business development, change and risk management. In 2013 he became the first Eastern European manager to be elected to the Executive Committee of the Factors Chain International, being responsible for the R&D and innovations. In 2003-2006 and in 2012-2014 Filip has been launching and implementing various business development projects and initiatives for UniCredit Group throughout Italy, Germany and the countries of the Central and Eastern Europe. Filip is also an avid supporter, business angel, mentor and investor in startups of young entrepreneurs. He holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and the London School of Economics and an UniCredit Executive master from SDA Bocconi.
  • Elvin Guri

    Elvin Guri CEO, Empower Capital

    Mr. Elvin Guri is an investor and entrepreneur with a successful track record in financial services. He is currently CEO of River Styxx Capital, an investment and advisory firm. In addition, Mr. Guri is the CEO of Empower Capital Advisor, which will manage the 15 mln. euro co-investment fund as part of the Jeremie programme. He started his career as Auditor at Price Waterhouse in Sofia. Starting from October 1996, he spent more than five years with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), both in London and in Sofia. Mr. Guri co-founded JetFinance International (JetFinance), a consumer finance institution, in 2001-2002. Post JetFinance, Mr. Guri has been involved, as an investor and as a mentor, in financial services and in technology ventures.
  • Valeri Petrov

    Valeri Petrov Partner, Axxess Capital

    Valeri is primarily in charge with investment opportunities in Bulgaria and the Western Balkans. Prior to that, he was Partner at Bancroft Private Equity and, before joining Bancroft, he was Investment Director with Global Finance, running the company’s activities in Bulgaria. Valeri led and co-led many transactions in various countries across South-Eastern Europe (Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Turkey among others). Prior to moving to the Private Equity industry, Valeri ran Orgachim, the largest paints & coating company in Bulgaria (backed by private equity funds, including RAEF) as CEO, where he completed a successful turnaround. Valeri also worked for the Royal Dutch/Shell, and held various positions within the organization. Valeri holds an MSc in Engineering from the Technical University of Sofia. He also attended Management Academy in London and ETP on Business Management in Delaware University, Sofia branch.
  • José Cabrita

    José Cabrita Principal, Lower Mid-Market, European Investment Fund- EIF

    José is a Principal at the Lower Mid-Market team of the EIF and has a particular focus on Central and Eastern European markets. He invests in equity and hybrid debt/equity funds across Europe and represents the EIF in a number of Advisory Boards. He joined the EIF in 2010 as Resident Representative / Office Head in Madrid and managed different fund-of-funds initiatives dedicated to Iberia, such as Neotec Capital Riesgo, EAF Spain and PVCi. Before joining the EIF, José worked in London as an Associate at Lehman Brothers and later at Nomura International. Prior to that, he held different engineering roles in Portugal, not only as a designer of steel and hydraulic structures but also as a construction site manager.

    Investment Director at 3TS Capital Partners, a leading European growth capital technology investor. Before 3TS, Mr. Stefanov was responsible for technology and media investments at Trafalgar Asset Managers, a Top3 European event-driven hedge fund and was a COO and analyst with an investment boutique focused on European Small & Mid Cap investments. Mr. Stefanov also served an internship with 3i Venture Capital in Germany and held management consulting and IT-industry positions during his early career. Mr. Stefanov holds a BSc in Management Information Systems from the University for National and World Economy (Bulgaria) and MBA from INSEAD (France/Singapore). Fluent in English, German, Russian, Bulgarian, speaks also French and Italian.

    Kamen Kolchev CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Elana Financial Holding

    Kamen Kolchev is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ELANA Financial Holding. He founded ELANA in 1991. Originally, the company started with brokerage services and 25 years later this is a group of market leaders in trading on financial markets, asset management, EU funding consultancy, financial services for farmland investment, renewable energy projects, etc. Kamen Kolchev had been actively involved in shaping the newly emerged local financial market in 1990s by providing expertise for the development of the new legislation and regulatory bodies. He currently is involved in policy work groups on finance and energy with the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria, after several years being member of the Board of the organization. He used to chair the Bulgarian Association of Licensed Investment Intermediaries from founding the organization till 2008. Kamen Kolchev graduated Mathematics at Sofia University and has further specialized in capital markets and corporate governance in New York and Prague.
  • Rossen Ivanov

    Rossen Ivanov Managing Partner, BlackPeak Capital

    Rossen is co-founder and managing partner of BlackPeak Capital, a co-investment growth equity fund focused on investing in Southeast Europe. To-date, BlackPeak Capital has invested €25 million in twelve companies and has attracted more than €50 million in additional co-investments. Prior to establishing BlackPeak Capital, Rossen co-founded Entrea Capital, аn independent Bulgarian investment banking firm and an affiliate of Rothschild for Bulgaria. Prior to Entrea, Rossen worked at McKinsey, the EBRD, and Procter & Gamble. Rossen holds an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School and a BA degree in Economics from the American University in Bulgaria. Rossen is a member of the Board of Directors of Walltopia, Bulpros, Resalta, and the Trust for Social Achievement.

    Desislava Nikolova Chief Economist, Institute for Market Economics

    Desislava Nikolova is Chief Economist of the Institute for Market Economics (Sofia, Bulgaria). She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of National and World Economy (Sofia, Bulgaria), a Master’s Degree in Economics from the Central European University (Budapest, Hungary), a MA in Economics (Major: International Economic Relations) from the University of National and World Economy and a post-graduate research diploma from the University of Oxford (Great Britain). Her professional interests and expertise lie in the fields of macroeconomics and financial analysis, monetary policy, currency crises, exchange rates, behavioural and experimental finance and econometric modelling. Before joining the IME, Desislava Nikolova has worked as Macroeconomics Analyst at the Investment Banking Department of Raiffeisenbank (Bulgaria), Economic/EU Advisor at the British Embassy in Sofia and Senior Analyst and Editor at Internet Securities, a subsidiary of Euromoney (Sofia, Bulgaria). She is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Desislava is member of the Bulgarian Macroeconomic Association.
  • Dimitar Enchev

    Dimitar Enchev Managing Partner, PostScriptum Ventures Sarl

    Dimitar is a Managing Partner at PostScriptum Ventures Sarl. He graduated from Swarthmore College and the London School of Economics and has over 10 years of experience investing in renewable energy and sustainability. Dimitar started his career at CWP Renewables where he still serves on the Board. At CWP Dimitar was involved in the successful development and financing of a number of large-scale renewable energy projects including the largest wind farm in Europe – the €1.1billion Fantanele project. At PostScriptum Ventures Dimitar has been responsible for a number of investments in technology and renewable energy globally in areas such as large-scale wind and solar development, distributed energy generation, solar offgrid technology, and energy efficiency. In 2015 he brought PostScriptum Ventures to Bulgaria where the fund has already made three investments – in International Power Supply (distributed energy generation), Software Group (microfinance IT solutions) and GGE (energy efficiency).
  • Todor Breshkov

    Todor Breshkov Managing partner, LAUNCHub Ventures

    Todor has a substantial banking experience and his professional expertise varies within the areas of Business Management, Finance, Business Development, VC and entrepreneurship. Todor is a founder and Chairman of the Board of Bulgarian Real Estate Fund (BREF), one of the largest listed real estate funds in Bulgaria. He has been a Managing Director of one of the largest brokerage and corporate finance boutiques in Bulgaria - First Financial Brokerage House (2001 - 2009) and also a Member of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange - Sofia (2003 - 2009). Todor was a Member of Supervisory Board (2003 - 2011) and member of the Audit committee of First Investment Bank EUR 3 bln in assets. He likes all types of outdoor activities, i.e. not to be in the office. During his spare time, Todor enjoys being with his family and his twin daughters and taking care of the home-grown tomatoes in the garden.

His recent experience of Central Europe, based in Vienna, was at the forefront of issues of security sector reform. He has managed complex cross-jurisdiction investigations. As a former head of Learning and Development in the Foreign Office he focused on leadership development, coaching and assessment. As Head of Analysis in the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre he trained analysts and was at the cutting edge of analysis theory and practice. He is an ADRg qualified Civil and Commercial Mediator. He speaks Serbian, French and German.

    Razvan joined the EBRD via the IPP programme and had the opportunity to work as part of various teams including Financial Strategy, Local Currency & Capital Markets Development (LC2), Power & Energy (Istanbul) as well as President’s Office. Currently, Razvan focuses on promoting capital markets transactions and infrastructure development. Prior to joining the Bank, Razvan worked for Erste Group as part of the Project Finance team (CEE) and Deutsche Bank in Structured Asset Finance (Amsterdam). He holds a Master’s degree in Finance & Investments from Rotterdam School of Management and is an Aspen Fellow.

Ilko has graduated in law from the Sofia University and has an LL.M. degree from the Columbia Law School. Ilko regularly acts for clients on multinational acquisitions and corporate restructurings in the telecom, technology, insurance, manufacturing and energy industries. Ilko is speaker on conferences regarding foreign investments and author of publications in the field of the mergers and acquisitions in Bulgaria (The International Comparative Legal Guide to: Mergers & Acquisition (Global Legal Group, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).

    Yordan Zarev Investment Manager, NEVEQ

    Yordan is an investment professional with experience in M&A and corporate finance. He began his career in Forem Consulting, where he worked on buy and sell-side transactions. After an internship with the investment banking team at HSBC (London), he joined EuroHold Group, a publicly listed financial institution in Bulgaria. He ultimately became the head of investment banking of Euro-Finance Bulgaria, part of EuroHold Group, the most established local investment intermediary and led several strategic acquisitions, capital raisings, public listings, divestments and deal structurings in a variety of sectors. Before joining NEVEQ as an investment manager, he headed business planning and development at Philip Morris International (Bulgaria affiliate). Yordan holds a BA in Business Administration from the American University in Bulgaria and is fluent in English.

    Vasil Golemanski Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, Bulgarian Stock Exchange

    Vasil Golemanski is Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. He is Member of the Board and CEO of the Central Securities Depository. Mr. Golemanski had been CEO of BSE in the period 2010 – 2018. Before that he held the position of Key Account Manager for Enterprise Customers in Hewlett-Packard (HP). Mr. Golemanski is one of the founders of the Central Securities Depository's technological system and until 2007 he has been working as a Director of the IT department there. Until 2009, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Futures Exchange Sofia. Vasil Golemanski holds Master’s degree from the Technical University in Sofia.
